We want access to as little of your data as possible. The more we have, the more burdensome our responsibilities become. For most of our visitors, we’ll know a single thing about you, not even your IP address. This privacy policy is largely only relevant to registered forum users who participate in our forum.
Our Approach to Privacy
We don’t sell, rent, or voluntarily share your personal information with third parties. We’ve specifically chosen privacy-focused service providers and hosting in Germany because we believe in stronger data protection standards.
What Information We Collect
Our website has two separate parts: our main WordPress site and our forum powered by XenForo. These don’t share data with each other. There is no communication between the two platforms.
On Our Main Website (faithgamer.com): This is a read-only informational site – there are no user accounts and no way to submit content. We don’t collect any personal information through this site. Our contact page simply displays an email address for you to write to us directly if you wish; anything you choose to include in that email is up to you.
On Our Forum (community.faithgamer.com): If you choose to register for an account, you can provide information like your username/alias, email address, gender, location (we will disable this option immediately once XenForo makes it possible to do so). This is all optional except for what’s required to create an account. Registration also requires your date of birth, collected to confirm you meet our minimum age requirement – you can choose whether to display your day/month and year of birth on your profile in your privacy settings (we recommend you keep this private). Your password is encrypted and cannot be viewed or recovered by our team.
Analytics and Tracking
We do not use any analytics or tracking at all. We literally have no idea how many people visit the main website or how they browse our website. The admin area of the forum provides very basic info about how many visitors we had over the past month, but it doesn’t include publicly identifiable information, nor does it distinguish between real people and bot traffic.
How We Use Your Information
Emails sent to our contact address are sent to an email address that only our site administrators can access. We use this information solely to respond to your message. We use Proton Mail for our email specifically because of their strong privacy protections. Your date of birth is used solely to confirm eligibility to use the forum.
Who Might Have Access to Data
We’ve chosen our service providers carefully with privacy in mind:
Our WordPress site and forum are on separate servers in Germany. We chose German hosting because, in our opinion, Germany currently maintains the most respectable level of data protection.
Wasabi Technologies stores our automated backups in their Frankfurt, Germany region.
Proton handles our email communications and is known for privacy-focused services.
These companies may have technical access to data stored on their systems as part of providing their services, but we do not voluntarily share your information with them or anyone else.
Data Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect your information. Forum passwords are encrypted and cannot be accessed by our team. Our backups are automated and stored securely.
Your Rights
The only information we would have about you is what you have emailed to us, or voluntarily shared in our forum. If you would like your forum account deleted, you can request this by emailing us (contact info on our Contact Us page) via the email address associated with your forum account.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the ‘Last Updated’ date at the top of this page.
