Operational Costs of Faith Gamer
These are rough approximations of cost per year. Since some components are used for multiple projects, we don’t always consider them a Faith Gamer exclusive expense. That and some of these costs also fluctuate.
But here’s an estimated breakdown:
Annual Costs
- Website hosting: £425
- Forum hosting: £425 (hosted on a completely separate server to the website)
- Off-server website + forum backups: £96 (backed up to the same account, different buckets)
- Primary domain name: £12
- Additional domain names: £25
- Email hosting: £325
- Content delivery network: £50
- Website software licensing/renewals: £150
- Forum software licensing/renewals: £50
How Faith Gamer is Sustainable
There is currently zero monetisation in place. And we’re okay with that right now. We’re 100% independent and self-funded.
Thankfully, some expenses are partially covered as part of our regular jobs. We work in the tech space, and can leverage certain elements of our tech stack such as website hosting and software licensing for multiple projects.
For everything else, we try and be good stewards of the money that we have available, and can responsibly put towards this ministry. Your prayers in this area would be appreciated.
Plans for Monetisation
We do occasionally mull this over. It’s not on our immediate radar, but we expect there will come a time one day where we would welcome funding.
What we’re open to:
- Ability to allow people to voluntarily support financially via debit cards, PayPal, etc without reward incentives
Unlikely, but not impossible:
- Online store: Selling Faith Gamer merch (cool idea, but way too much for us to handle)
- YouTube Partner Program: We’re not opposed to getting a cut of the ad money, if we’re able to blacklist inappropriate ads and keep ads to a minimum
Never gonna happen:
- Displaying ads on the website 😬
- Premium memberships (perks for payment) 👎
- Locking content behind paywalls 🤢
- Accepting sponsorships 😵
- Getting acquired/bought outright 😫
